Mandala Wisata Rumah Betang
Rumah Betang or in simple English called Long House is one of characteristic of the indigenous Dayak in Central Kalimantan, which has a unique and historical value functions, as well as being one of the major tourist attraction in the city of Palangkaraya. Currently, this place often used as a cultural arts performances scheduled three times a month. Arts and culture showcased include: Tari Mandau(Saber dance), tari manasai (manasai dance), tari balian dadas (shaman-dadas dance), tari giring-giring (bells dance) and other traditional Dayak dance.
Another integral part of the Rumah Betang are:
- Sandung, a storage for bones of the ancestors of rumah betang who have died and have previously been through the traditional ceremonial tiwah.
- Patahu, is another Sandung completeness that serves as a medium of communication with the ancestors spirit on another world .
- Sapundu, is a sculpture made of wood next to the Sandung. Sapunduengraving depicts the character or nature of the person or ancestors who have died and their bones placed on Sandung.
